On August 2, 2025, the Kentuckiana Chinese School held its 2025–2026 Fall Semester Back-to-School Planning Meeting at the home of Ms. Shan Li, a Registered Representative of New York Life Insurance Company. Attendees included members of the school’s Board of Directors, administrative team, teaching faculty, and Ryan, the developer of the school’s new website.
Dr. Li Zhou, Chairman of the Board: Reflecting on the Past, Looking to the Future

Dr. Li Zhou, Chairman of the Board, reviewed the work accomplished by the Board during the 2024–2025 academic year. On behalf of the school, Dr. Zhou expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Shan Li for her continued support—specifically for her annual $1,000 donation to the school through New York Life Insurance Company over the past three years. He also thanked Ms. Li for graciously opening her house each year to host the school’s meetings and for preparing generous meals for attendees. Dr. Zhou warmly welcomed new team members including Vice Principal Kevin Yu, Ms. Rui Zhang, Ms. Hui Wang, and Ms. Chenying Sun. He gave special thanks to Ryan for joining the team and for providing robust IT support through the development of the school’s new website. Dr. Zhou acknowledged the tireless contributions made by board members over the past year in organizing the annual student graduation ceremony, fundraising efforts, and donations. He also thanked them for their time, energy, and financial support in preparing for the annual WorldFest in Louisville, operating the school’s cultural booth, and jointly coordinating the annual Chinese New Year Gala with the Louisville Chinese Association. Dr. Zhou extended his sincere appreciation to the school’s administration and teaching team for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. He encouraged continued efforts to organize more cultural and educational events to enhance the school’s influence and visibility. He also urged teachers to collaborate and continuously improve their instructional quality, aiming for an even stronger year in 2025–2026.
Treasurer Phoebe: Expand Enrollment, Ensure Financial Stability

Phoebe, the school’s Treasurer, reported on the school’s financial situation for the 2024–2025 academic year. She explained that the school’s revenue primarily comes from tuition, public donations, and contributions from board fundraising events. Due to limited student enrollment and community donations, the school was only able to break even this past year thanks to the Board’s active fundraising efforts. Without these external donations, the school would have operated at a loss based solely on tuition income. Phoebe emphasized the financial risks facing the school and called on the management team to raise the school’s public profile, attract broader community support, improve school administration and teaching standards, and expand student enrollment to ensure healthier and more sustainable operations in the 2025–2026 school year.
Principal Jinyu Hu: Enhancing the School’s Value and Community Impact

Principal Jinyu Hu reviewed the school’s administration, teaching operations, and event planning for the 2024–2025 academic year. Under her leadership, the school’s operations were well coordinated. Mr. Yinghao Dong oversaw the Ma Liping Chinese curriculum, and Ms. Jia Zhu managed the Yangyang Chinese program. Principal Hu also provided a detailed explanation of the school’s faculty contracts and encouraged all teachers to fulfill their responsibilities and continue enhancing their teaching effectiveness. She shared that the school’s new website, built with Ryan’s support, has been successfully launched and is currently undergoing content population across various sections. Looking forward, Principal Hu shared the school's plans to further expand its offerings, including enrichment classes, after-school clubs, and cultural community events. These initiatives aim to enrich the school’s overall value and better serve the community.
